News Update - Pea Vining

Once again the hot weather we have experienced this season is having a significant impact upon the peas in the field and factory.

In Scotland they have experienced temperatures that they would not normally expect to see at this time of year.  Yields and quality are good but factories are struggling with the heat.  There has been some bypassing but not a large amount to date.  A lot will depend on the weather for the next 14 - 21 days.  It is the same picture in England but the bypassing has been higher.  Again a lot will depend on the next couple of weeks weather. In Scotland they are about 20% through the crop in England the figure is, generally, between 40% and 50% through.

Our contacts in Belgium are still getting very good yields of 10t/ha or more and have not bypassed a lot so far, but this may change very soon.  They are about 55% through their crop and some groups expect to be finished around the 15th August.

We will keep you informed as the season progresses.
