120810 Pea Update- Country Overview

Improvement in the weather has certainly helped over the past couple of weeks with just some heavy showers between the warmer weather rather than the cold wet period that preceded it.

However the outlook across the country is still not good for the crop as a whole.  There are reports of large areas being passed with little or no hope of getting anything from them. Prospects for late peas are variable with some crops having good potential whilst others are still struggling because of the cold wet early summer weather.

Some groups are about 10 - 14 days away from finishing, but up in Scotland they are only about 20% of the way through after a very late start around the 20th July. Large areas have also been lost there as well.
